Bio
I’m an aspiring youth in the city of Brockton, Massachusetts. I’ve always wanted to work on my art and do something with it for a living after high school and into college. High school is ending soon and I’m just trying to get a head start in achieving that goal. I may lack formal college training, but personal experience in visual arts compensates for that. My more conceptual art focuses on displaying various philosophies I’ve studied and ones I hope to discover in the future. Beside that is my more still life focused art, its simplicity in style yet complexity of skill provide an interesting quality in my artwork. The darker part of my artistic ability revolves around graffiti. I understand going and putting up a sticker with your name on it is illegal, and I’d like to find ways to legitimize that area of my art, yet its a part of who I am. Graff is part of the Hip-hop culture that spread throughout the world even into the recesses of New-England suburbs. Its part of the vibe this city has. Its a glimmer of light in an otherwise darker city riddled with crime. After all, Brockton has a crime rate equivalent if not worse than Compton, a city notorious for its role in 90’s hip-hop music. I think there’s an important kind of art in these areas that extend beyond music and relate back to what the hip-hop scene was about back in the 80’s. I’d like to bring that back and show that despite living in harsh communities, there’s still something worth looking for.
